Frequently Asked Questions

Who is XMan?

Well I am a long time music lover. I played drums a couple of years back, this is probably the reason why I like to push drum effects and lots of beats in my songs. But aside from making music to relax, I have regular job as a software quality assurance analyst.

What are your musical influences?

First I need to mention that my prefered style of music is rock. From progressive rock like Pink Floyd, Genesis Yes to metal. I don't even listen to dance, electronica music in genral. I do have an open mind for different styles like new age, classical, jazz, blues. Artists that really influenced me for my music are Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd.

Why make music?

I always created music of some sort since I was 16, but in 2005 I was given a challenge. One album in one week. Thanks to the magic of computers I was able to do that. And this year I decided to make a second album. Tranciatium is more serious in the making. I took 2 months to do the 12 songs. I had more songs, but who knows maybe I will release another one this year. I really do this for fun you know, not seriously.

How do you create your music?

Well I have 2 computers, and over 20,000 loops. I then "jam" with the loops using different styles. I use a lot of samples also like drums, keys, ect. All loops and samples are license free and royalty free also.

Some songs have vocals, who sings?

Samples and loops only. I could sing , but I don't have time to write the lyrics. Using vocal loops are a bit challenging sometimes. It's like having to do a 5000 jigsaw puzzle and fitting those little pieces in.

Are you planning any live shows?

Certainly not. Of course I dream of making a live multimedia show with my songs one day. But that is just a dream.

Where does the name eXtremeSenses come from?

I registred extremesenses.com in 2000. Initially the site was offering an MP3 player for Windows that I developped myself, and then added other software applications. I stopped support and developing a couple of years back and the site was somewhat dead. I always thought extreme-senses was an excellent name also for a band. Never thought I would use it for that 9 years later :-)

Did you collaborate with other musicians?

No, but my door is open. It would be interesting to work with other musicians on a song or even an album.

Why release your first album for free?

Why not? I think sharing my creativity for free to world of the internet is great. But I might try to sell or at least ask for donations for the second album. I need to pay my website hosting you know. :-)
